hmm, wonder what's going on on the other side of the world?
might as well send mikey D and the tenacious doctor ahn over to thailand to check in with the avuncular one to stir up a little debauchery.
ah yes, looks like the poison of choice remains the same.
here's a little coverage of the chaos:
Agent Dalrymple joined me on Koh Samui and Koh Tao in Thailand. In between introducing Mikey to the mind-bending ways of the bucket, getting chased by a Thai pimp and his spurned bar girls ( a misunderstanding, really), and shattering our barman's gift chillum from a now deceased friend, we did manage to show the uninitiated the Way.
However, the Thai islands were only the iceberg's tip, and another agent was called in as we set forth to canvass SE Asia. Agent Ahnstoppable came on board in Bangkok and gave us a crucial third voice to the cause, as word was spread through the killing fields of Cambodia and from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi.
With an actual job at home and limited time at his disposal, Ahnstoppable broke off midstream, flying solo to maximize coverage.
Meanwhile, back at the pool, Mikey and I practiced what we preached with rooftop pools at back-to-back stops in Nha Trang and Hoi An slowing forward momentum...but you'll have that.
Of course, in keeping with the spirit of the Movement, our method has been less soapbox preacher and more lead by example. The downside of our example being followed is a likely uptick in SE Asia liver replacement surgery.
The bottom line value offered by bucket drinking is obvious and hard to pass up, and a tour through Asia would not be complete without a thorough comparative analysis of the Changs and Singhas; Beerlaos and Bia Hois; Tigers and Anchors.
Round out our holiday olympics with a mojito here, an umbrella drink there, rice wine, snake wine, banana wine and some sewer-coloured liquid with floaty things, and its easy to see why our historic site visitation hasn't entailed more than a flyby to the spectacular Angkor Wat. A flyby that also included a splash of Bojon graffiti at Siem Reap's Angkor What? bar.
So, while its been a while since I've served up a field report, rest assured that the journey and mission continue unabated. Mikey's on board for another couple weeks, then I'm back flying solo .
Uncle Velvet out...
uh, whoa.
the pace car has lapped the field...
