and, like a perfect storm, some weekends just come together here in the city by the bay.
we got the full monty a few weeks back in the form of:
a sizzling grateful dead cover band, dark star orchestra, at the fillmore...
air show with the blue angels...
the hardly strictly bluegrass festival in golden gate park:
and last, but not least, burning man decompression...
let's just say it was a squirrelly ride home on sunday night, and an even squirrellier monday.
but of course one would expect nothing less from a perfect storm...
agent dunny and the Q surfaced today with merry tales of cruising the european coast during a month long bojourn through italy and france.
yep, that's right, momma J and dunny are treating the young jedi Q to some total bojon immersion, pretty much guarranteeing that the lad will never be able to settle for some no-end cube situation. good on the whole scene.
and it looks like they scored some tasty waves in biarritz. great to see the atlantic delivering in such fine fashion.
my oh my, a month of chillin' and catching some fun rides sounds like just the ticket.
Q, you're in good hands...
agents will-billy, five* and roman gabriel were on special assignment last week as they cleared their tuesday evening schedules to go check out Roger Waters at the shoreline amphitheater.
report from the field was three lighters way up as the band rocked the sold-out venue. lots of good extracirrulars circling around (including the floating pig). encouraging to hear there are so many enthusiastic pink floyd fans still out there.
other first-hand reviews backed up what our agents had to say.
and the set list was as follows:
Set II
Speak To Me / Breathe
On The Run
Time / Breathe (reprise)
The Great Gig In The Sky
Money
Us And Them
Any Colour You Like
Brain Damage
Eclipse
encore break & band introduction
The Happiest Days of Our Lives / Another Brick In The Wall
Vera / Bring The Boys Back Home
Comfortably Numb
now that is a solid line-up...
job so well done that the secret agents got to play hookie the entire next day... a most excellent way to break up the week.
annual romp to the raiders game with a bunch of undercover brothers set on having a funky good time.
and everything went as planned... at least at the start. a pre-8am arrival led to an extended tailgate that led to boisterous merrymaking and a solid head of steam by kickoff.
killer seats and some opportune plays on the field had us doing a jig as the home team raced off to a 21-3 lead.
but then everything began to unravel.
the offense started sputtering, the special teams gave up three big returns, and the defense finally started to crack.
and, oh yeah, the play calling was horrendous.
all this led to a nightmarish second half that ultimately resulted in a demoralizing 24-21 defeat.
and with the team's best player sporting alligators arms reminiscent of ricky waters and saying after the game that he's "just lovin life" and isn't all that worried about football, you'd have to be tatoo'd pretty good not to realize there's something very rotten in oaktown.
