yup, that sorta gets at this year's bojaunt to vegas for march madness.
chaos all around... loosely interpreted as comfortably disorienting.
nepotism had us dialed into an MTV crib scene at the mirage that was off the hook. we were stationed in a luxury suite called The Villa that was aptly named. the palace-like inside was topped only by the private pool and putting green in our very own outdoor compound.
we stuck to our usual schedule and hit the hard rock on friday night. but alas, it seems the hard rock has jumped the shark. a light crowd that was short on characters had us beating a path back to the mirage as soon as we had gathered our posse.
and so back to the villa we went...
and partied down with the usual suspects...
along with some legendary OGs from yesteryear.
the mirage lists an impressive array of sights to check out without ever leaving the grounds:
we saw none of these things.
but we did come up with a few activities to add to the list:
and croll came up with an inverted dine and ditch that still has a bunch of us scratching our heads.
speaking of croll, here's his damage report from the weekend:
no sleep on the activity list, except for the nap recorded by jon bon van winkle, and that was right through his afternoon flight on sunday.
madd props to the seattle crew...
for bringing the party on sunday for the second year in a row...
and a little shout out to some of the old school compadres who were otherwise occupied this year:
for the recod, this year registered a "15" and was all about the posiedon adventure at the villa. may we all be fortunate enough to ever get there again...
agent_30, where art thou?
ah yes, up to no good, as we've come to count on...
this time, a little pictorial proof of our nefarious understudy attempting to hold up a few local watering holes on St. Patty's day using some trusty banana six shooters as his main source of intimidation...
apparently this ruse successfully landed him a few gratis shots which ultimately landed him in the dog house at home.
been there, my friend!!
jolly ole foray to aspen CO a few weeks back to carve some turns and dial up a little rocky mountain high.
hadn't been to aspen for a few years, and it was great to get back. a few venues have changed ownership, but on the whole the town was very much like it was a decade ago. j-bar at the jerome, eric's, little annie's, boogies diner... all still there. biggest change we noticed was that the double diamond is now called the Belly Up, but even that change was negligible since the venue is pretty much identical.
we tracked down agent kevles who is logging some time in snowmass working at the rocky mountain institute helping to "foster the efficient and restorative use of resources to make the world secure, just, prosperous, and life-sustaining."
rather heady stuff that brother kevlar is tackling these days. and he's also hitting the mountain with much frequency, and it showed in some vastly improved snowboarding skillz. shell, kevles and i had a blasting ripping some runs on The Big Burn at snowmass.
also made a point of snowboarding ajax for a day. this legendary mountian only started allowing snowboarders on the hill a few years ago, and so this was our first time to carve these slopes with a board (after having skiied it for years). was totally stoked to hit all my old favorite runs on a board (bell, genetleman's ridge, ruthies).
here are a couple video clips for the action:
nice to get a little refresher course on the fact that there are a bunch of good people living a groovy life up in the rockies, far removed from the daily grind. good little perspective check and reminder that the bojon is out there...
lots of reasons to be proud down there and lots of reasons to feel good about the future. how we ever got this far is sort of a mystery, but we're all rather stoked about our good fortune...
the cartoon network came to town recently, and so we dialed up an adult swim and made our way out to the independent to catch the North Mississippi Allstars.
and in case you can't remember what this band sounds like, it's down home southern blues rock.
a couple video grabs from the action:
and in case there was any doubt, the members of the the tiger inn are always in the right...
