A Nibble Out of the Big Apple
a day to play in New York City, and we took to the streets to soak in the energy. we were staying with sista sleigh in west chelsea, and a short skip from her place was the Highline, an above ground train route that's been converted to a walking path.
strolling along two stories above street level yields some good people watching and plenty of nice vistas. the path is stocked with intriguing sculptures, brilliant murals, and curious characters.
after a hearty trek on the Highline, we decided to hit some active rails and catch the subway. really not much compares to the sights, sounds, and smells that one encounters in Penn Station.
destination: times square. talk about people watching. the place is alive and teaming. ms. cassady took one look and said, "there's a lot going on here."
the little ones embraced the scene and interacted with the art installations.
and with the superheroes...
and then off to Dylan's Candy Store to make like kids in a candy store. the place is a sweet tooth mecca, and the peanut gallery was pleased.
post-candy store sugar rush led us to Central Park so the young ones could explore...
while the elders could chill...
as dinner time rolled around, we dialed up some tasty asian cuisine at the hippest of spots, Tao. adopted new yorker, the dashing ms. tiffany, joined along and good fun was had by all.
and to top off the day, we made our way to broadway to catch the musical, Matilda. great performances all around, but Ms. Trenchbull was everybody’s favorite evil villain.
whew... hard to make a dent in the Big Apple, but we gave it our best shot. at the very least, the kids got a taste of what this mythic city has to offer.

Gigantes Droppin' Some NYC
alrighty then, a 5 week sabbatical away from the daily grind... a good time to fire up the trusty Bojon Buzz to track the action...
first stop: New York City. and right out of the gate a trip to Citi Field to catch our beloved Giants taking on the Mets.
we met up with dashing S. Leigh Parrish, scored some bleacher seats, donned some Giants garb, and made a night of it.
and the Gigantes delivered. Brandon Crawford went 3-for-4 and Hunter Pence drove in three runs to lead the way, while Ryan Volgesong pitched a two hitter as the Giants dominated, 5-1.
and our crew was stoked...
funny thing about routing for the Giants at an away game is that every other Giants fan in the ball park becomes your new best friend. panda hat high fives were flying as we walked the concourse. and as lead grew longer, the Giants fans grew louder, and the espirt de corps grew stronger.
and Kody "Panda" Bear was pleased.
making the ride home on the LIRR festive for the orange and black...
awesome to see Hunter Pence and the boys deliver in the Big Apple.

Follow Your Bliss
Camp Bojon commissioned an Art Car for burning man last year from an artist named marco cochrane. marco operates his own studio on Treasure Island and achieved supreme legendary status at the burn in 2010 when he unveiled a forty foot steel sculpture of a dancing woman, called Bliss Dance.
the Art Car marco built for our camp was the talk of burning man last year, and it truly was a masterpiece. marco started with a military amphibious truck and stripped it down to the base frame and then worked his magic (photos below).
anyhoo, just caught a video of marco that i wanted to share. in the vid, marco references a quote from joseph campbell as part of what has inspired his journey down the artist path: "Follow your bliss and doors will open where you didn't know doors existed."
well, my friends, that is the essence of bojon! follow your bliss and doors will open:
here's the vid:
and here are a few pix of marco's work:

Sandy Squaws Spreading Some Tahoe Magic
the beauty of wintertime in lake tahoe has been in full effect this holiday season. a series of storms brought over five feet of snow in less than a week, and some crisp temperatures have kept the powder light and fluffy.
we've been hitting the slopes hard every day, and the younger bojon squad has been killing it. it won't be long until the elders are fighting to keep up!
here are a few snaps from the scene:
